John Picacio

John Picacio

John believes in choosing what one loves over what one likes. When he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an architecture degree, he liked making buildings, but he loved science fiction, fantasy and storytelling. The rest is history.

Winner of nine Chesley Awards, three Hugo Awards, four Locus Awards, the World Fantasy Award, and the Inkpot, John Picacio is one of the most acclaimed science fiction/fantasy cover illustrators of the last decade, creating iconic art for works by George R. R. Martin, Leigh Bardugo, Rebecca Roanhorse, Michael Moorcock, James Dashner, and many more. He lives in San Antonio with wife and daughter, where he’s discovering the astonishing future past of Loteria.
