Desiree S. Evans

Desiree S. Evans is a writer, scholar, and activist from south Louisiana. She holds an MFA in fiction and poetry from the Michener Center for Writers at The University of Texas at Austin, as well as degrees in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. and international affairs from Columbia University in NYC. Her creative writing has appeared in journals such as Gulf Coast, The Offing, Nimrod Journal, Cosmonauts Avenue, Foreshadow YA, and others. Her work has received fellowships and support from the Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation (VONA/Voices), Kimbilio Fiction, the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop, the Hurston/Wright Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Austin Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and We Need Diverse Books.
