Ms. Violet Blue (@violetblue) is a freelance investigative journalist on hacking and cybercrime, as well as a noted columnist and award-winning author. She has reported for outlets that include CBS News, CNET, CNN, Engadget, The Financial Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and many others.
Ms. Blue and her books have appeared on CNN and The Oprah Winfrey Show, among others, and she has been interviewed, quoted, and featured in a variety of outlets including BBC, The New York Times, Guardian, Motherboard, and The Wall Street Journal.
She has authored and edited over three dozen books in eight translations. Her most recent title is The Smart Girl’s Guide to Privacy, which ELLE Magazine called “an illuminating handbook for women.”
Blue has presented on privacy, harm reduction, technology, hacking and human sexuality at conferences including ETech, LeWeb, CCC, the Forbes Brand Leadership Conference, plus two Google Tech Talks (among many others). Guardian has described Blue as “one of the leading figures in tech writing in the world.” She is an advisor to Without My Consent, and a member of the Internet Press Guild.
