Raised in the wild state of Texas, at age six Terry began a life of crime, stealing money from her grandmother to buy a notebook for writing stories. She financed her BA from the University of Texas with numerous jobs–waitress, maid, secretary, and assistant to a notorious law professor. While working as a computer programmer/analyst and real estate agent, she earned an MA in English/Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.
She now writes the best-selling Samuel Craddock series, set in the fictitious town of Jarrett Creek and published by Seventh Street Books: A Killing at Cotton Hill, winner of the Macavity Award, and nominated for a Strand Critics Award; The Last Death of Jack Harbin, nominated for a Macavity and dubbed one of the top ten mysteries of 2014 by Library Journal; Dead Broke in Jarrett Creek; and A Deadly Affair at Bobtail Ridge. The Necessary Murder of Nonie Blake, January 2016, was a Top Pick in RT Reviews. The sixth book in the series, An Unsettling Crime for Samuel Craddock, comes out January 3, 2017. Terry is working on a thriller and a psychological suspense novel.
She lives in Berkeley, CA with her husband and two rowdy terriers.
